What size coffee table do I need?+
Aim for roughly two-thirds the length of the sofa it sits in front of. A seven-foot sofa wants a table around four and a half feet. Go much smaller and guests on the ends have nowhere to set a drink; go much larger and the grouping loses its walking lane. If the grouping is built from two facing loveseats, size to the shorter of the two.
How tall are your coffee tables?+
Most sit between 16 and 18 inches, at or just below the seat height of the sofa. That is the range that lets a seated guest reach a glass without leaning forward. A table noticeably taller than the seat reads wrong in photographs even when nobody can say why.
Round or rectangular?+
Rectangular for a sofa with chairs on either end, because the length gives everyone reach. Round for tight groupings, for high-traffic rooms where a corner is a shin hazard, and for anything built around facing loveseats. Round also solves the awkward grouping that has no clear front.
What is a nesting coffee table?+
Two tables that tuck under each other, like our Ivy. Nested, they take one table's footprint. Pulled apart, you have two surfaces at slightly different heights, which is the fastest way to add a landing spot mid-event when a grouping fills up beyond what you planned for.
Can I use two small tables instead of one large one?+
Often better. Two smaller tables give you flexibility to shift one when the crowd moves, they read less heavy in a photograph, and they let you mix finishes: a rattan next to a gold frame, say. The one rule is keep the heights within an inch or two of each other or the pair looks accidental.
What finishes do you stock?+
Walnut and ash in round and rectangular, natural rattan in the Benni, Luka and Felix, antique zinc in the Conga, a copper drum, stone and mixed-material tops, black frames, and a deep run of gold: Baylor, Carlton, Bentley, Diana, Nest, Gem and Diamond. Gold frames are the most requested finish we carry for weddings.
Can guests put food and drinks on them?+
That is what they are for, but the finish decides how relaxed you can be. Zinc, stone and metal tops wipe clean. Natural wood and rattan will mark from a wet glass over a four-hour event, so if the grouping sits next to the bar, ask us for a hard-top finish rather than hoping for coasters.
Should a coffee table be styled with anything?+
A tray, a low arrangement and one object is the working formula. Keep it under about 12 inches tall so guests can see each other across it, and keep the center clear enough that someone can actually set a drink down. A table styled edge to edge looks good in the empty-room photo and is useless once guests arrive.
Which coffee tables suit a wedding versus a corporate event?+
Weddings pull toward rattan, natural wood and gold frames, with the Benni, Luka, Diana and Nest booking earliest in peak season. Corporate events and activations pull toward zinc, stone, black frames and hard geometry: Conga, Gotham, Geo, Baylor black. Gold reads warm on camera and black reads sharp against a logo wall.
Can I rent a coffee table on its own?+
Yes. Plenty of orders are a single table to finish a grouping the client already owns, or to put in a green room or a suite. There is no set that has to be booked together. If you are building from nothing, a sofa, two chairs, a coffee table and a side table is the standard grouping.
