Which glasses go on the table and which stay at the bar?+
Water goblets go on the table, pre-set, always. Wine glasses go on the table for a plated dinner with wine service and stay at the bar when wine is poured on request. Tumblers, spritz glasses and coupes live at the bar. Setting every glass you rented on the table looks impressive in a photograph and leaves guests no room for a plate.
What is the difference between a coupe and a flute?+
A flute is tall and narrow, holds the bubbles longer and takes less table width. A coupe is the wide shallow one, loses carbonation faster and photographs beautifully, which is why it turns up at weddings and almost never at a conference. Our Vivian range has both, so you can flute the toast and coupe the cocktail hour.
Do you rent Riedel?+
Yes, a Riedel flute and wine glass, and they are the glasses to ask for when the wine is the point. A guest who knows wine notices the glass before the first sip. For a wine dinner, a vineyard event or a table where someone brought something serious, this is where the upgrade actually registers.
Which coloured glassware do you carry?+
Jolene tumblers in green and ginger gold, Birdie water goblets in moss and smoke, Presley goblets in blue and pink. Colored glass is the cheapest way to put a palette on a table that is otherwise neutral, and unlike a colored plate it still works when the food arrives. One colored glass per setting is usually enough. Two starts to look like a theme.
How do I keep water goblets from crowding the setting?+
Set the water goblet above the knife and let everything else come from the bar or arrive with the course. A four-glass setting at a 60 inch round with ten guests leaves almost no room for a plate, a charger and a centerpiece. If the menu needs four glasses, ask about a 72 inch round instead, or seat eight at the 60.
Do the glasses arrive polished?+
They arrive clean and ready to set. Water spots are the enemy of a photographed table, so if your venue or caterer wants a final polish before service that is normal practice and worth building into the setup timeline. Ask your caterer whether they polish on site, because some do as a matter of course and some do not.
Can we use real glassware outdoors?+
Yes, and it looks far better than the alternative. Two Phoenix-specific cautions. Glass on decomposed granite or a pool deck breaks when it goes over, so plan surfaces and lighting for the walkways. And a glass left in direct afternoon sun gets hot enough to be unpleasant, so set the table closer to service rather than hours ahead.
Which glasses suit a cocktail hour with no seated dinner?+
Jolene tumblers, Juniper spritz glasses and the Vivian coupe. All three are stable in a hand, none of them need a table to be put down on, and the coupe in particular photographs well while guests are standing. Skip tall stemware for a standing reception, because it goes over on the first bump.
How many glasses should I order per guest?+
This depends on the length of the event and whether guests keep their glass between drinks, which most do not. Send us the guest count, the service style and the length of the bar service and we will give you a working number rather than a multiplier. Ordering by a rule of thumb is how people end up short at the second hour.
What suits a corporate dinner versus a wedding?+
Corporate rooms read best with clear stemware, usually Vivian or Grace, because colored glass on a branded table competes with the brand. Weddings are where the colored ranges earn their keep: Birdie in moss or smoke, Presley in blue or pink, Jolene in ginger gold. The exception is a brand activation built around a specific color, where matching glass is the point.
