This WIPA Phoenix event design at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain, A Gurney’s Resort & Spa was a true study in contrast, creativity, and intentional guest experience. Designed in collaboration with the talented team at Bloom & Blueprint, this event took attendees on a visual journey starting with a sleek black-and-white outdoor welcome and transitioning into a vibrant, color-filled indoor experience.
Hosted for the Phoenix chapter of WIPA, the event wasn’t just a gathering it was a fully immersive design moment that showcased how strategic styling can completely shift the tone and energy of an event.
Guests were first greeted outdoors with a bold, monochromatic design that immediately set a sophisticated and modern tone. The black-and-white palette created a clean, elevated aesthetic that felt intentional and fashion-forward.
At the center of the entry experience was our Avenue White Bar with Silver Frame, which doubled as a welcome moment. Fully branded to match the theme, the bar seamlessly blended functionality with design—proving that even operational elements like check-in can become part of the overall aesthetic.
Paired with a custom-branded registration banner, the setup created a cohesive and polished first impression. This type of branded moment is key for industry events like WIPA, where every detail contributes to the overall guest experience and brand storytelling.
One of the most impactful aspects of this event was the intentional transition from black-and-white into full color as guests moved indoors.
This wasn’t just a change in palette, it was a shift in energy.
As attendees entered the indoor space, they were met with an explosion of color, texture, and layered design elements that completely transformed the atmosphere. The contrast between the two environments made the color feel even more vibrant and immersive.
This type of design progression is a powerful tool for event planners. By guiding guests through different visual experiences, you create a sense of movement and discovery that keeps the event engaging from start to finish.
Inside the ballroom, lounge seating played a key role in grounding the colorful environment. Our Colette Crescent Sofas in Blue and Teal were used to create curved, conversational seating areas that felt both inviting and visually striking.
These pieces added depth to the space while reinforcing the bold color story. The rich blue and teal tones complemented the surrounding décor while still standing out as statement elements within the room.
For planners looking to recreate a similar look, curved lounge seating is an excellent way to add flow and dimension to an event layout.
Throughout the event, branding was seamlessly integrated into the design without feeling overpowering. From the registration setup to the overall visual flow, each element was thoughtfully aligned with the event’s theme.
This balance is key for professional events. Branding should enhance the environment, not compete with it.
By starting with a minimal black-and-white palette and transitioning into a colorful interior, the event allowed both the brand and the design to shine in different ways throughout the experience.
Events like this WIPA gathering highlight the importance of designing with intention, especially for an audience of event professionals.
From the initial welcome moment to the final indoor reveal, every detail was curated to inspire, engage, and leave a lasting impression. The use of contrast, color, and thoughtfully selected rentals demonstrated how impactful design can elevate even a single-evening event.
This event serves as a perfect example of how strategic design choices can completely transform a space. By combining a clean, monochromatic welcome with a bold, colorful interior, the experience felt dynamic, intentional, and memorable.
For planners and industry professionals, it’s a reminder that even subtle design decisions, like color transitions, lounge layouts, and branded elements, can have a major impact on how an event is perceived and experienced.
Whether hosting an industry mixer, corporate gathering, or large-scale celebration, incorporating layered design and statement rentals is what takes an event from standard to standout.
