December in the Valley is a gift: patio weather, golden sunsets and crisp desert nights made for a party. Whether you're hosting the family, the neighbors, your book club or a little one's holiday birthday, a few well-chosen pieces can turn a backyard, living room or venue into the place everyone wants to be.

Here are six holiday party ideas our team loves this season, plus the rentals to pull each one off. We deliver, set up and pick up across Phoenix, Scottsdale and the whole Valley, so you can actually enjoy your own party.

Supersize the Photo Op

Every great holiday party has that one spot where everyone lines up for a picture. Make yours impossible to miss with our giant metallic-red Christmas sweater ornaments: a classic red ball with a white Nordic knit pattern of reindeer and snowflakes, a silver cap, and a size that stops people in their tracks. They come in three sizes, up to 75 inches across, from $110/day.

Where to put them? Set one by the front door so the party starts on the porch. Flank the tree or the fireplace for the family photo. Or cluster all three sizes at the entrance, the stage or the step-and-repeat for the photo everyone posts. They look just as good on a backyard lawn at dusk as they do in a ballroom.

Build a Backdrop Worth Walking Over For

The photo at the top of this post is from a 2nd birthday with a holiday twist, and it's a masterclass in backdrops. Arched shelving became Santa's workshop, stocked with wrapped gifts and tiny treats, with a red velvet bench out front for photos and a frosted tree on each side. Steal the formula for any party:

  • Start with a structure. Arched shelving, a bar back or a draped wall gives the eye somewhere to land.
  • Add a seat. A low velvet bench invites guests to sit down and smile.
  • Frame it. Trees, garland or a pair of giant ornaments on either side make it feel finished.
  • Make it yours. A custom sign with your family name or a cheeky holiday pun seals the deal.

Need an evergreen base for your own backdrop? Our faux cedar trees are ready for your lights, ribbon and ornaments.

Set One Long, Gorgeous Table

For family dinners, Friendsmas or a holiday birthday, nothing beats everyone at one table. At that same backyard party, long tables ran down the lawn with clear chairs and fresh garland, while round fluted tables held the cocoa and sweets.

Get the look with our Ghost Dining Chair in Clear, which keeps a full holiday table feeling light and airy, and the Walter Dining Table, a round white top on a fluted pedestal that doubles as a dessert or hot cocoa station. Hosting a cocktail hour first? The Stanford Cocktail Table brings the same fluted look at standing height.

Styling idea: run garland straight down the center of the table, then tuck in candles and a small wrapped gift at every seat.

Cozy Up in a Moss-Green Lounge

Who says the holidays have to be red? At our 2025 open house, our holiday room went full Modern Woodland: deep moss-green velvet sofas, crisp white and silver pillows and a sparkling white Christmas tree in the middle of it all. It felt calm, cozy and just a little unexpected.

To create a similar feel, start with a curved velvet sofa (our Colette Crescent Sofa in Moss has the look) and layer in white pillows. Prefer winter white? The Coco Boucle Sofa in Ivory is the coziest seat in the house. Browse our full lounge collection and our Winter Wonderland collection for more.

Styling idea: pile green velvet ornaments with oversized bows down a plaid table runner, add glass votives, and you've got a centerpiece that ties the whole room together.

Make One Bold Red Move

If you love classic holiday red, go big with one statement piece instead of a dozen small ones. A round crimson velvet sofa in the middle of the room becomes the place where conversation happens, from every side. It works in a ballroom, a warehouse venue or a big open living room.

One round crimson sofa, and conversation happens from every side.

Our Colette Circle Sofa in Crimson does exactly that, and the Colette Crescent Sofa in Crimson gives you a sweep of holiday red for a corner lounge. Pair either one with crisp white linens and a few red blooms, and let the velvet do the talking.

Take the Party Outside

Here's the Phoenix advantage: in December, the backyard is in play. Once the sun goes down, the trees light up, the twinkle lights come on and the air gets just crisp enough for a fire.

Gather everyone around a fire pit like our Sedona Fire Pit, a low, round concrete fire table in a warm sand finish that fits right into a desert backyard. Ring it with lounge seating and you've got the most popular spot at the party. Explore all of our fire pits and patio heaters, and check your HOA or venue rules on open flames early.

Want a little extra magic? Our holiday party rentals page is packed with festive add-ons, and our arcade games keep the fun going long after dessert.
