Frequently Asked Questions

Details to help plan your loveseats quote

When should I choose a loveseat over a sofa?+
When the footprint is tight, when you want two seats facing each other rather than one long run, or when the room has a view or a stage you do not want a seven-foot back blocking. Loveseats also work better in odd-shaped spaces: a courtyard with planters, a suite, a narrow patio, anywhere a sofa would eat the whole wall.
How wide is a loveseat?+
About five feet across and three feet deep on a standard event loveseat, against roughly seven feet for a sofa. That two-foot difference is what lets a grouping fit in a 10ft square when a second sofa would not. Armless versions are narrower still because you are not paying floor space for the arms.
What is an armless loveseat for?+
Building a run. Armless pieces push together into a continuous bench of whatever length you need, which is how you line a wall or wrap a corner without the gaps and arm bulk you get from separate seats. Our Mondrian range comes armless in white and black for exactly this.
Can two loveseats replace a sofa in a grouping?+
Yes, and it is often the better arrangement. Two loveseats facing each other across a coffee table seat four with everyone able to make eye contact. One sofa plus two chairs seats five but splits the conversation. If the goal is guests actually talking rather than just sitting, face two loveseats.
Do you stock matching sofa and loveseat sets?+
Yes. Mondrian, Colette and Cascade all run as both a sofa and a loveseat in the same upholstery, so you can pair them in one grouping without hunting for a near-match. Ask for the family name rather than the color when you want pieces that are genuinely identical.
Can a loveseat be used as sweetheart seating at a wedding?+
It is one of the most common requests we get. A loveseat behind the sweetheart table puts the couple at the same height and lets them sit together rather than in two separate chairs, and it photographs far better from the floor. Ivory and oatmeal are the usual picks. Check the table height against the loveseat seat height so the couple is not sitting below their own plates.
Can loveseats be placed back to back?+
Yes, and it is a good move in a wide open room. Two loveseats back to back create two seating zones out of one footprint and give you a soft divider in the middle of a floor that has nothing else breaking it up. Put a low console or a pair of side tables between them and it reads as deliberate rather than improvised.
Which loveseat colors do you carry?+
Ivory, oatmeal, white, pewter, graphite and black through most of the ranges, plus sapphire in the Cascade line, a confetti black Juno, cowhide in the Mondrian, and natural leather and wood in the Southwest equipale. Send a palette and we will send photos of the closest pieces in stock for your date.
Can a whole grouping be built from loveseats?+
Yes, and it is the standard answer for a courtyard or a patio where a sofa will not turn the corner. Three loveseats around a coffee table seats six in a footprint a sofa grouping cannot fit. The one thing to avoid is a ring of identical loveseats with nothing breaking the rhythm: add a pair of accent chairs or an ottoman so the arrangement has a front.
Are loveseats easier to move during an event?+
Noticeably. Two people can reposition a loveseat where a seven-foot sofa needs four and a clear path. If your floor plan changes between ceremony and reception, or the room flips from seated dinner to after-party, loveseats and ottomans are what make that turn fast.
