When do outdoor events in Phoenix actually need heaters?+
October through April. Daytime highs in the valley stay pleasant well into November, which is exactly why heat gets forgotten. The problem is the overnight drop: a 78 degree afternoon in the desert routinely falls into the low 50s or 40s after dark, and it happens quickly once the sun is down. If your event runs past sunset between Halloween and Easter, plan for heat.
How many patio heaters do I need?+
A standard freestanding patio heater warms a circle roughly 15 to 20 feet across, so figure on about a 9 foot working radius around each unit. For a seated outdoor dinner, place one heater for every two to three tables rather than trying to heat the whole footprint. For a standing cocktail area, place them along the edges where guests cluster, not in the middle where nobody stands.
What is the difference between a pyramid heater and an umbrella heater?+
An umbrella heater pushes heat downward and outward from a reflector at the top, so it covers the widest area and is the workhorse for open patios and lawns. A pyramid heater runs a visible flame up a glass tube, which throws less usable heat over distance but looks considerably better in a designed space. Not everywhere. Many resorts, country clubs and HOA communities restrict open flame or require advance notice, and some city and county park sites prohibit it outright. Can fire pits sit on grass, turf or pavers?+
Pavers, concrete and decomposed granite are straightforward. Natural grass usually is, with a level spot. Artificial turf is the one to watch, because synthetic fiber melts from radiant heat long before anything catches, and most venues that have installed turf have a rule about it. Tell us the surface when you order so we can plan the placement.
How far should seating sit from a fire pit or heater?+
Around a fire pit, three feet of clearance between the rim and the front edge of a sofa or chair is the working number. It keeps guests comfortable, keeps loose fabric away from the flame, and leaves a walking lane. Under a patio heater, keep the unit out of the traffic path entirely and never directly beneath a tent, canopy, umbrella or low branch.
What fuel do your heaters and fire pits run on?+
Gas, not wood. No smoke, no ash and no ember risk, which is why venues that will not permit a wood fire will usually allow a gas fire pit. It also means there is nothing to tend during the event and nothing to put out at the end of the night beyond shutting the unit off.
Can a fire pit double as a cocktail table?+
The concrete round fire pits read as a low table and guests will absolutely set drinks on the rim, so plan for it. You do, or your venue staff. Our crew delivers, places and collects every unit, but lighting and shutting down during the event is handled on your end rather than by us. The controls are straightforward. Ask at delivery if you want your point person walked through them.
What do fire pits and heaters look like in a lounge setup?+
The fire pit goes at the center of the grouping where a coffee table would normally sit, with sofas and chairs facing in at roughly three feet of clearance. Heaters go just outside the grouping, behind the seating rather than in the walking lane. That arrangement is why outdoor lounges stay full late: guests get a focal point and a warm seat in the same spot.
