Frequently Asked Questions

Details to help plan your sofas quote

How many guests does one sofa seat?+
Three, comfortably, on a standard event sofa of roughly seven feet. In practice you will see four squeezed on at a busy reception and two people spread out at a quiet one. Count three when you are planning capacity. A banquette runs longer and seats more, which is why the 8ft Nola gets used against a wall where a sofa would waste the length.
What is the difference between a sofa, a loveseat and a banquette?+
A sofa seats three and runs about seven feet. A loveseat seats two and runs about five, which makes it the better piece when the grouping is tight or when you want two facing each other instead of one long run. A banquette is a long bench-style seat, usually backed and placed against a wall, and it seats four or more in the same depth a sofa uses.
How much floor space does a sofa need?+
Budget about seven feet of length and three feet of depth for the piece itself, then add clearance. Leave roughly 18 inches between the front of the sofa and the coffee table, close enough to set a drink down without standing up. Leave about three feet behind or beside it as a walking lane. A grouping that ignores the walking lane ends up with guests cutting through the middle of it all night.
Which upholstery holds up best at an event?+
Leather and vinyl wipe clean and are the safest choice for a bar-adjacent lounge or an outdoor activation. Boucle and textured weaves hide marks well and photograph as soft and expensive, which is why they dominate weddings. Flat light-colored linens look beautiful and show everything, so keep them away from the bar and the passed red wine.
Will a sofa fit through the venue's doors and elevator?+
Ask before you book, especially in historic venues, high-rise suites and anywhere the only route is a service elevator. A seven-foot sofa needs a clear path, and a loveseat or a pair of club chairs is often the answer when the route is tight. Send us the access details with your order and we will tell you what will physically make it into the room.
Should every sofa in a room match?+
Not necessarily, and matching everything is the most common way a lounge ends up looking like a furniture showroom. Keep the frames and the seat heights consistent and vary the fabric, or keep one fabric and vary the frame. What reads badly is four unrelated styles in four unrelated colors, which looks like whatever was still on the truck.
Do sofas come with throw pillows?+
No, pillows are a separate rental and we stock 56 of them. That is deliberate: pillows are the cheapest way to pull a neutral sofa into a wedding palette or a brand color, and pricing them separately means you are not paying for pillows you do not want. Two per sofa is the usual count.
Can I rent a single sofa?+
Yes. There is no set that has to be booked together. A single sofa with a coffee table works for a backyard party, a green room or a small activation. If you are building a full grouping, the standard combination is a sofa, two chairs, a coffee table and a side table.
What colors and materials do you stock?+
White, ivory, oatmeal, pewter, graphite and black through most of the ranges, plus brown and tan leather, cowhide, natural cane, rattan and ash and walnut wood frames, with color runs in sapphire and other accent tones. Send a brand color or a wedding palette and we will send photos of the closest frames in stock.
Which sofas suit a wedding versus a corporate activation?+
Weddings pull toward cane, natural wood and soft neutral upholstery: Lucy cane, Emma natural wood, the ivory and oatmeal ranges. Corporate events and brand activations pull toward hard lines and finishes that read well on camera and against a logo wall: leather, cowhide, the Mondrian and Centurion frames. Photograph the room before you commit, since a fabric that looks warm in the warehouse can read grey under event lighting.
