Phoenix winters are the reason so many of us live here. Afternoons are sunny and mild, patios fill up, and outdoor parties are back on every calendar. Then the sun goes down, the desert air turns crisp, and guests start reaching for their jackets. A patio heater rental in Phoenix is the simple fix that keeps your outdoor event going long after sunset, and a fire pit gives everyone a warm place to gather.
At Epic Party Team, we rent patio heaters and fire pits for backyard parties, holiday gatherings, winter weddings and corporate events across the Valley. Here's how to choose the right heat, lay it out, and get your venue's OK before the big night.
Why winter outdoor events in Phoenix need heat
Our outdoor event season runs from about November through March, and it's easy to forget heat when the afternoon is in the 70s. The catch is how quickly the temperature drops after dark. A warm afternoon can turn into a chilly evening in the 40s or 50s, and that's exactly when your dinner, toasts or dancing are happening. If your event runs past sunset this winter, plan on heat.
Heat also changes how a party feels. Guests stay outside longer, they linger around the lounge instead of drifting indoors, and the glow of a flame does a lot of the decorating for you.
Patio heaters: umbrella or pyramid?
We carry two styles of outdoor heaters for rent in Phoenix, and each one has its own job.
Umbrella patio heaters. The Umbrella Patio Heater is the classic mushroom-top style. Its reflector cap pushes warmth down and out over the people standing or sitting around it, so it's our workhorse for open patios, lawns and cocktail areas.
Pyramid patio heaters. The Stainless Steel Pyramid Patio Heater runs a visible flame up a tall glass tube. It's the one guests notice, so we love it for entrances, lounges and anywhere the design matters. Many hosts mix both: umbrella heaters where people gather, pyramid heaters where they'll be seen.
Fire pits: the warmest seat at the party
A fire pit turns a patio into a destination. It gives guests a natural place to gather, and it looks beautiful in photos once the sun sets. Our fire pits are gas-fueled rather than wood-burning, which many hosts prefer for outdoor events. You can see every style side by side in our heating collection.
Modern white fire pits
For a clean, modern look, the Solfire Fire Pit in White is a round bowl with playful circle cutouts that let the firelight spill out. The Royalfire Fire Pit in White has tall crown-shaped spikes around the rim, and the Delta Fire Pit is a wide white bowl on a pedestal base, filled with blue fire glass.

Hosting a long lounge? The Boxfire Fire Pit in White is a long, low rectangle wrapped in a white honeycomb screen. Set a sofa on each long side and add a few club or swivel chairs at the ends for an easy, conversation-friendly layout.

Rust and concrete for a desert look
If your style leans Southwest, the rust finishes feel right at home in the desert. The Royalfire Fire Pit in Rust and the Solfire Fire Pit in Rust have a weathered, natural patina that looks great on gravel, pavers and decomposed granite.

For a softer, low-profile look, our concrete rounds read almost like a coffee table with a flame in the middle. The Fire Pit in Sedona Concrete comes in a light cream and sand finish, and the Dark Bronze Concrete Round has a rich bronze finish with a lava rock center.
A fire pit for the table
No room for a floor fire pit? The Phoenix Table Top Fire Pit sits right on a dining or cocktail table, so you get a compact flame accent without giving up floor space.
How to set up heat for a cozy outdoor party
Every space is different, so tell us your guest count, your layout and the surface you're setting up on, and we'll help you plan how many heaters and fire pits make sense. These are the setups we see work best:
- Lounge areas: put the fire pit in the middle of the grouping, where a coffee table would normally go, with sofas and chairs facing in. Place patio heaters just outside the grouping, behind the seating rather than in the walking path.
- Seated dinners: spread heaters out among the tables instead of trying to heat one big open space.
- Cocktail hours: place heaters along the edges where guests naturally cluster, not in the middle of the open floor.
- Ceremonies and entrances: a pair of pyramid heaters frames an aisle, a welcome table or a front door beautifully.

Check your venue's open-flame and propane rules first
Before you build your floor plan around a fire pit, check with your venue, or your HOA if you're hosting at home. Many resorts, country clubs and HOA communities have their own rules about open flame and propane, and some require advance notice. Ask early, get the answer in writing, and let us know what they say so we can plan around it. It also helps to tell us what you're setting up on, like pavers, grass or artificial turf.
Ask your sales rep what delivery, setup, operating instructions and pickup your order includes, and confirm who will operate the equipment during your event.
Make it part of your holiday plans
Heaters and fire pits are a natural fit for holiday parties, Friendsgiving on the patio and winter weddings. For more seasonal ideas, see our holiday party design ideas, our Friendsgiving and Thanksgiving table guide and our holiday party rentals.
